HAWKS FC - "KITS 2 KENYA" PROJECT
Welcome to the fundraiser page of our "Kits2Kenya" Project

Hawks FC are excited to be launching our new "Kits2Kenya" project.

This is a Legacy project based on one of our core values “Leaving our Shirt in a better place”.

In 2018 we were fortunate to meet Emmanuel Pala who was spending a year studying
English and playing football in the UK. He got to know us well at Hawks and helped us during
his period in the UK. We have remained good friends with ever since. He returned to Kenya in
2020 where he continued his football career in his home of Nairobi.

For some time, we have been considering a legacy charitable football project in a place that
supports children in urgent need of help. We were aware of the social challenges in Nairobi
and began the search for a partner club that would support our aims and be an excellent
fit for Hawks.

We have decided to start our project by supporting “Maroon Talented” which is a youth
football project in the Kibera / Lang’ata area of Nairobi run by a group of community
volunteers led by Issa Gunabe.

Kibera itself is the largest urban slum in Africa, and the third largest in the world. The average resident lives of less than $2 a day. Unemployment rates are high and 12% of the population are living with HIV. Many of the 500,000 residents lack basic services like electricity, medical care, and clean running water. Socio-economic challenges are huge.

For children, football provides a safe haven and a vital lifeline.
Issa and his support team support youngsters aged 6-17 and help
educate the youngsters. Resources and funds are scarce so
Hawks will be helping by providing kit to the youngsters. We will
be initially shipping 60kg of kit from our old stocks.

We are interested in working with other clubs in the UK and in
Kenya to develop this work. We need help with shipping / logistics
partners to assist with the wider development of the project. We
can then start supporting other clubs.

Hawks is initially committing £600 of cash funds to the project as well as the kit and equipment we are shipping in the first consignment. We are aiming to double match this contribution from fundraising.

We are launching a fundraiser to help develop the project further to send a further 60kg of "Kit2Kenya" . The funds will support ongoing transport costs which are around £10 per kg of kit.
Funds will be held securely for the project and ringfenced.
